Sonflower Camp started in 1999 as an outreach to kids with
disabilities and their families. The first week after school lets out in Wise
County you’ll find 50 disabled kids, their family members and 100 helpers outdoors
at Joe Wheeler Park in Decatur, Texas. We learned that first year that kids
with disabilities cannot physically tolerate too much fun or heat. Therefore,
the camp lasts from 9 to 12 for 3 days followed by a party on the 4th day. Campers
and their families have a blast but then so do all the helpers. It’s the campers’
and helpers’ opinion that everyone comes away from Sonflower Camp blessed beyond
measure! There are other activities planned throughout the year. Light of the
World Images donates 20% of the profits to Sonflower Camp for Kids.
